Prescription Refills

When your prescription was initially written by us, it was done so following generally accepted medical guidelines for the drug selected and the treatment regimen, and your personal medical history and current physical status were considered to determine the number of refills allowed before you need to see the doctor again to consider the appropriateness of additional refills.

Accordingly, please note: Prior to refilling a prescription The Providers at Summit Primary Care require you to schedule an appointment for re-evaluation. By law, an office visit is required for refills on controlled substances. During that visit or consult, they will evaluate your physical status and make the determination at that time whether to prescribe a refill and if any adjustments need to be made to your medicine.

However, if you have a refill emergency, defined as "you are out of medicine and can't get in to see your Provider fast enough to get a refill" please call our main # 615-883-2331 during business hours or use our Patient Portal to request a refill. If you have not yet created your Portal account, please click here. You will need all of the prescription information ready for your physician to consider a refill. The physician may approve a short-term refill to hold you over until a scheduled visit. Please note that your doctor will never refill controlled substance prescriptions (pain or anxiety medication) until you come in for an office visit. If they approve the emergency refill, it will be electronically sent to your pharmacy and you will be charged a "virtual office visit" consult. If it is denied, you will be advised to schedule an appointment. Usually, requests submitted before 3 PM will be processed by 5 PM that day.

Please note: If the medicine prescribed for your problem was not prescribed by an SPC provider, you must come in for an appointment for evaluation first. We will not refill another doctor's prescriptions.
